Bloggy Giveaway Carnival

Bloggy Giveaways Quarterly Carnival Button

In honor of my new blog, I decided to join in the Bloggy Giveaways Carnival. I need some regular visitors/commenters ... hint, hint. ~grin~

I'm giving away a copy of The Five Love Languages Of Children by Gary Chapman & Ross Campbell, M.D. Entrants must be a resident of the United States and only one entry per person, please. All you have to do is leave me a comment telling me what you love most about gardening. If you don't garden, tell me what your favorite fruit, veggie or herb is and why. You do not have to have a blog to enter, but please be sure to leave a way I can get in touch with you (a link to your blog or email addy). I'm taking entries through 5pm EST, Friday, April 25, 2008. A winner will be drawn from all entries sometime on Saturday, April 26, 2008 and be announced here on my blog (don't worry - I'll privately contact the winner as well).

I love to grow tomatoes so I can make my fresh tomato and mozzarella salad all summer long!

I love to garden, but, sadly, my little apartment patio is bare at the moment. I love the feeling of creating new life from some dirt, water, and sunshine. I hope to do some container gardening this year.

I love rhubarb!

My husband and I are each reading our own versions of this book for adults. I would love to read this book for the children. My favorite thing about gardening is enjoying the fruits of my labor (the labor being dirt under my nails). Whether the flowers are colorful or the fruit and veggies taste yummy, I did something to improve the ground I call my yard.

Awesome Mom said...

I love the flowers. Nothing gives me more pleasure than going outside and seeing the pretty flowers that are growing in my patio. Now if I could just keep my two year old from picking them I would be a happy woman.

Erin said...

I love my mom's garden because she can (and does) grow everything. My favorite is her melon patch.

I would love this book. I have the regular 5 love languages book but would love to read the kid one.

I love not worrying about the veggies I buy going bad!

I love the idea of square foot gardening and container gardening...I am hoping to make my first attempt at it this year.

I don't garden per se; but I can keep a basil plant alive (inside). That said, basil's my all-time favorite herb! Thanks! ( meg.wilson@gmail.com )

I don't know if I can possibly think of a favorite thing about gardening...I love it all. I love to spend a day digging through the soil with my bare hands, I love the idea that I am able to grow my own food, and make the world a little more beautiful with flowers and trees. I love that I can create a haven for the birds, and butterflies. I could sit and deadhead the flowers and weed the garden for hours. Can you tell I have a passion for gardening?! I hope this season I'll have the time to spend out there every now and then.

Thanks for the chance to enter this giveaway!

Living in an apartment, I don't garden. But I'm thinking of starting a little herb garden in some pots on the patio. We'll see how it goes.

I used to love to garden but currently live in an apartment. I know I could do baskets but I haven't. Anyway when I did garden I loved have spring peas. So divine and wonderful. Also fresh tomatoes. And flowers. Lots of beautiful flowers. Purple coneflower is one of my faves.

I am not very good at gardening... However, I love strawberries. I love them fresh, dipped in chocolate, or in a pie. So versatile and beautiful.

Thanks for the chance to win.

I actually HATE gardening, I hate getting dirty, even as a kid, I didn't like getting dirty! BUT I love the fresh, healthy, "free" veggies that are a result of gardening, and so I do it (on a small scale).

Cactusflower said...

I married a farmer a few years ago and am having to learn gardening -- and although I moan and whine about it a bit, I do love to can my own tomatoes, sweet corn and applesauce. Yum!

I adore your quote, on the bottom of your page. I would love to read this book!

I REALLY would love this book, i"ve been wanting to read it for a while. I have 5 kids, so I must have at least 1 of each of the love languages right? :-)

I just told my husband yesterday I'd like this book! Gardening, love getting my hands dirty in the soil. I don't know what it is, but even afterwards when I get all the dirt out from under my nails, it still makes me smile.

I love to plant flowers up my walkway. Makes for great curb appeal. I would also like to try a small herb garden in my kitchen window.

I love to garden. I get such a joy out of planting a small seed and watching nit turn into something beautiful. I love being outside, enjoying nature and the birds.

JNM said...

i am brand new to gardening. i am growing some lavender in a pot right now, crossing my fingers it works, but my ultimate goal would be to grow some veggies! How cool, to grow your own food. A cherry tomato plant would be my fave to try first.

Holly said...

We just recently started our family garden... There is something so base and tactile about putting your fingers into the soil, planting a seed, and then watching it develope and produce. My two young daughters love that they can grow as many flowers as they can, just so they can pick them. (Unlike mom's!) :-)

Chel said...

We just planted a little garden in our backyard... cucumbers, bell peppers, tomatos, zucchini and basil. Yum.

We're here in Florida, too! I'll be sure to come back and visit.

I am an awful gardener... I would love a garden, but I always forget to water things. My favorite herb is rosemary. I love it mixed with olive oil on just about everything.

the4moyers said...

Great giveaway! Thanks for offering! I DO NOT have a green thumb, so I don't usually attempt a garden. Something always happens to green things at my house. My husband laughs whenever I get a plant. But...to me there is absolutely NO better taste in the world than a homegrown, fresh off the vine, warm from the sun, huge beefsteak tomato sliced with a little salt. Ooo...it's making my mouth water just thinking of it!

Thanks for the giveaway!

I just searched my library shelves for that very book. I would love to be in the running so I can have a chance to learn better how to love my two girls. Anyway, I love to garden in my little tiny 3X6' space. I squeeze as much in as I can, but my favorite is tomatoes. The smell reminds me of my grandma's garden, it teaches patience because they seem to take forever, but the reward at the end lasts even longer. Oh, sorry I'm drooling just thinking about this year's homemade salsa. I think I'll try a new recipe this year. Have a great day...thanks for the opportunity!-Angela

Sadly, I have whatever the opposite of a green thumb is. However, my favorite fruit is watermelon because of how sweet and juicy it is. It's also fun to eat. I'd love to win this book!

My favorite thing about gardening is all the possibilities! I'm a new gardener and I definitely have a LOT to learn, but I love thinking about all I can do with our yard. My fiance and I had our first veggie/fruit garden a couple years ago and it was really nice to be able to pick things from our garden rather than buying them.

My favorite veggie is broccoli, because I love the way it tastes just about any way it's prepared - or even raw! (There's a head or two calling my name in the fridge right now, actually!)
